Olaplex Settles ‘Made in USA’ Lawsuit

Olaplex does not admit any wrongdoing. Plaintiffs get $5 voucher.

Olaplex settled a class action lawsuit to resolve claims it falsely advertised its hair products as “Made in the USA.” The settlement benefits consumers who purchased one or more Olaplex products labeled “Made in USA” between Feb. 7, 2019, and Sept. 6, 2024.

The class action lawsuit alleged Olaplex falsely advertised its products, specifically the Olaplex Hair Perfector No. 3, as being “Made in the USA” when they actually contained foreign-made ingredients. The lawsuit states the “Made in USA” label is misleading and violates California’s Made in USA Statute, Consumers Legal Remedies Act, Unfair Competition Law and False Advertising Law.

Under terms of the settlement, class members can receive a $5 voucher to use on Olaplex’s website. The voucher can be combined with other offers on Olaplex’s website but cannot be combined with another promotional code. The voucher will expire 12 months after issuance. Class members are only entitled to one voucher regardless of the number of Olaplex products purchased during the class period.

The deadline for exclusion and objection is May 12, 2025.
